Some thoughts for the month…..    This year I intend to pay more attention to my own health and fitness and return to my wonderful Dru Yoga Class in Burghfield which I absolutely love when I attend but I find it so easy to make excuses to not go out when the nights are cold and dark. I know this will be a long and hard struggle for me but I am going to also incorporate the following 5 resolutions, which I received from Dru Yoga Snowdonia Mountain Lodge. Last year I went on a weekend retreat, which was fantastic, and I would encourage everyone to consider time away at this special place.

I have recently received 5 resolutions and I thought I could share these with you as I feel they will also help to get me started on my challenge. As you reflect on your own resolutions, and maybe try to add more that you know you may never achieve, you may like to join us in these, as they are achievable.

1.                  Start the day with gratitude

Before you get out of bed, thinking of three things that you’re really grateful for.
Even just being glad that you’ve woken up might be the first thought you have!
It makes it a bit easier to leap put of bed on cold mornings.

2.                  Spend 5 minutes a day in meditation

It’s easier to make life hard for ourselves – so decide to make 5 minutes a daily minimum.   Even if you’ve dropped your practice hundreds of times, now is the time to start again.

3.         Affirm at the beginning of each day – may this be an amazing day!

This is a great way to feel good, despite the weather. It helps to say it out loud as well. I am sure that many of you are aware of the power of affirmation and mantra – and how you can use them to empower your life.

4.         Decide not to pass judgments on others.

The surest way to have a great year is to stop trying to change everyone around you. As they on my yoga courses – the only person you can change is yourself. So give your family, your loved ones and work colleagues a break and just accept them as they are.

5.         Relax daily.

Take at least 10 minutes to completely relax your body and mind.
It’s the easiest way to reduce your stress levels this year – to take a few minutes at the end of a busy day (ideally just after you come back from work) to lie down, cover yourself with a blanket and listen to a guided relaxation on CD.
